[This is rather lengthy, but there is a lot of information packed into this post! Thank for you taking time to read through it!]
Today and tomorrow I would like to take a break from writing about what God is teaching me on my journey of joy. Instead, I would like to give you a preview of some of the material in THE ABC’s of T2:3, the ebook Bible Study that will become available this Wednesday. Today I will simply share with you a little about the history and the pricing for this study.
Please know that I have felt very “self-promoting” lately—speaking often about the coming availability of this material. Because I have chosen to make the material available only through this website, if I don’t let people know it is there, let alone how to access it, it will go unnoticed and “unaccessed.” I didn’t write it to hide it. 🙂
I also had to set my own mind at ease by remembering that I am not promoting myself, I am promoting the material!
In choosing this material to teach in 2011, I poured my heart into preparing this material to teach in a “Bible-Institute-style” class for women. Many a Saturday afternoon and many evenings were spent becoming familiar with the Book of Titus! When I was asked by several women where I was planning to publish the lessons, I told them there were no such plans, but I would consider it. (They wanted to use the lessons for their own personal study or for small-group studies they were planning to facilitate.)
At that point, I considered going through a publisher to whom I had already planned to submit, and have since submitted, a study that my mom and I co-wrote. Right about that time, I became familiar with two blogs that I now follow avidly. On both of the websites associated with these blogs there were downloadable ebooks. One was about 32 pages and one was a little over 90 pages. I was intrigued, and a plan began to formulate in my mind that this would be a great medium to use for making THE ABC’s of T2:3 available. [At a later date, I will tell you more about those two sites, but I want to stay focused today!]
I’ve been transparent with you from the start, so I will state what you probably already know. Because I am unemployed/self-employed, it made sense when planning to put these lessons in print to find a method that could “eliminate the middle man,” at least for the present. Again, I battled with selling things I had personally written.
I began to look into the pricing for similar studies that are in print and comparable styles of material that are offered in downloadable ebook format. I came to the very obvious conclusion (after approximately 60 price comparisons) that if I were to make the material available myself in this format, I could keep the cost much lower for women who wanted to use this study now or in the future. And, because my personal costs (computer programs, the cost of the website, and the “hiring of the laborer“) could be covered through the cost of the ebook, the “middle man” could be eliminated this time.
Enough history “disclaimer-style” explanations. Here’s the bottom line, and here’s how it works:
*THE ABC’s of T2:3 downloadable ebook is about 60 pages in length.
*The book began as 14 lessons, but because most group studies last 12 weeks, I chose to re-group some of the material so that it is now 13 lessons—an Introductory Lesson (which can be “tweaked” for group study use) and 12 actual lessons from Titus 2:3-5.
*The download of the ebook will be available only through this website, and will be sent to you automatically by a third party via .pdf format. (You will need Adobe Acrobat, which is available for free.)
*The cost will be $4.99 per two copies. In other words, you will receive the .pdf of the ebook when you pay via PayPal, and your payment allows to print up to two copies of the material. (You will not need a PayPal account to access this. The “shopping cart” allows you to make a one-time use credit card payment that goes through PayPal so that you don’t have to make any payment information available to me personally.)
—This makes the cost approximately $2.50 per printed book – and still only about $5.00 for individual use!!! I took into consideration the fact that you will need to use a printer or copier (including the cost of ink) if you choose to print the material rather than read it directly from your computer.
—I have already been asked, “How will you know how many photocopies people make once they print off their original copy?” I won’t. But I sincerely trust the women who will read and use THE ABC’s of T2:3. I trust that at roughly $2.50 per copy, people will understand the need to pay for the number of copies used.
—You will have the option to purchase multiple copies. (Example: If you are in a group study of eight ladies, you would order four copies of the book.)
*For those who are interested, there will be affiliate options beginning July 1st. (If you don’t know what that is, you probably wouldn’t be interested anyway.) 🙂
So there you have it. I’m excited to share what I have learned through this study first as its developer, then as a class instructor, and now through completing the written format!
