30 Days of Gratitude – Day 23:
Express gratitude to a manual laborer whose skills make your life easier.

Much to my embarrassment, I fulfill the stereotype of being a woman who knows nothing about cars. I chose my first car based solely on its color (light blue). And yes, I’m one of those people who walks into the service center and describes the “clang, clang, bop-bop-bop” sounds to the mechanic when describing why my car needs extra love from a professional. Because he or she is trained in that area and using those skills to make my life easier, I can later confidently drive away in a car that is working to its fullest potential. The same thing applies in so many other areas of my everyday life: my work, my day-to-day living made easier because others have honed their skills to make it happen. And for this, they deserve my gratitude.

Take time to e-mail or send a card to a manual laborer to thank that person for using his or her skills to make your life easier.

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly” (Romans 12:6–8, NLT).
